Matangi Private Island Resort (“the Resort”) is a family owned and operated 4.5 star boutique resort situated on a 240-acre private island located in the lush tropical northern part of the Fiji Islands. This unique horseshoe-shaped island paradise boasts virgin tropical rainforest and white sand beaches. It is no surprise that Matangi Island was named in ISLANDS Magazine as one of the “Top 10 Private Islands in the World” and featured in the book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” by Patricia Schultz. It was also voted in Conde Nast Traveler as one of the Five Most Romantic Resorts in Fiji.
+ Location + Access
The Resort is accessible via Taveuni Island Matei Airport, 8 miles off Matangi Island. All guests are met on arrival by the Resort’s mini-van driver for their car transfer to the landing for their boat transfer across to Matangi Island. The car & boat transfers take approximately 45-minutes. Charges apply.
+ Accommodations
The Resort caters to adults only (16 years and older) with 8 luxurious bures, 3 unique treehouses and 1 two bedroom/two bathroom bure.
Meal inclusive rates include all meals, daily maid service, evening turn down, complimentary laundry service and non-motorized activities. Meal exclusive (room only) rates are also available.
All Bures feature air-conditioning and ceiling fans, 4-poster king-size beds, private facilities, outdoor lava rock showers, Pure Fiji bath amenities, bathrobes and slippers, hair dryer, in-room safe, fully stocked minibar (additional cost based on usage), fresh baked cookies, French press coffee/tea making facilities, large sitting area, private veranda, beach towels and beach hammock.
TYPES OF ACCOMMODATION:
Oceanview Bure x 4 –situated on the southwestern side of the Resort with ocean views. Bedding consists of 1 King bed. (Additional single bed can be added). Each bure has a different interior décor so no two are exactly alike.
Beachfront Bure x 4 – situated on the western side of the Resort facing the beach. Bedding consists of 1 King bed. (Additional single bed can be added).
Treehouse x 3 – situated on the western side of the Resort with Jacuzzi and day bed on a large private deck. Bedding consists of 1 King bed only.
Two Bedroom/Two Bathroom Bure x 1 - situated on its own private rocky point, this bure is the largest of our accommodations. Bedding consists of 1 King bed per bure. (Additional single bed can be added to each bure). Ideal for families (min. age 16) or couples traveling together.

Meals are served in the magnificent “Vale-Ni-Kana” Dining Room. Built only metres from our pristine beach, this stunning complex boasts 270-degree views of the ocean and our exquisitely landscaped tropical gardens.
At Matangi Private Island Resort the cuisine is largely influenced by our tropical surroundings, Fijian heritage and the unique flavours of the South Pacific. Gourmet dining combines an array of fresh fish and seafood caught by local fishermen, imported meats, salads, locally grown vegetables, tropical fruit from surrounding gardens, freshly baked breads and sumptuous desserts. The daily menus are planned using the finest and freshest ingredients available.
To complement our Fiji gourmet dining, a large selection of world-class Australian and New Zealand wines and French Champagnes are available. Our beverage list also includes tropical inspired cocktails, rums, beer and an extensive selection of fine spirits from around the world.
Romance Package includes a private candlelit dinner for two in a romantic location. A Special Menu for your romantic evening includes a bottle of one of the fine house wines.
Matangi’s Meal Inclusive Rate includes three gourmet meals daily, with lunch and dinner being three course meals. Coffee and tea with freshly baked treats are available all day in the dining room along with pre-dinner appetizers at the bar.
