Castaway Island, Fiji is located on a private island, surrounded by white sand beaches and vibrant coral reefs. The resort is located on Qalito Island in the heart of Fiji’s Mamanuca Island group. Located approximately 30km from the international gateway of Nadi Airport. Castaway is easily accessed by a 1hr 50min scheduled ferry service from Denarau Marina on the mainland, or a short 10min seaplane or helicopter flight. Island Bures:
The popular Island Bures (bungalows) are nestled amongst the resort’s lush tropical gardens. Each free-standing, traditionally thatched bure features a high vaulted hand painted ‘tapa’ lined ceiling, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, large bathroom with shower, hairdryer and toiletries with a distinct Fijian accent. All bures have one king bed with two single beds having a sliding privacy screen separating the two bedroom areas.
Ocean View Bures:
Ocean View bures (bungalows) are close to the beach and enjoy water views, whilst being nestled amongst the resort’s lush tropical gardens. Each free-standing, traditionally thatched bure features a high vaulted hand painted ‘tapa’ lined ceiling, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, large bathroom with shower, hairdryer and toiletries with a distinct Fijian accent.
Most bures have one king bed with two single beds having a sliding privacy screen separating the two bedroom areas.
Beach Bures:
Beach Bures (bungalows) are located along the two north and south facing beaches of Castaway Island, all with uninterrupted water views.
Each free-standing, traditionally thatched bure features a high vaulted hand painted ‘tapa’ lined ceiling, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, large bathroom with shower, hairdryer and toiletries with a distinct Fijian accent.
Most bures have one king bed with two single beds having a sliding privacy screen separating the two bedroom areas.
Family Beach Bures:
The family beachfront bure sleeps up to 10 guests. Limited Availability – ONE only. The newly renovated Family Beach Bure (bungalow) consists of two beach bures interconnecting. The Family Beach Bure (bungalow) is located on the north facing beach front and is configured with three interconnected bedrooms and two separate bathrooms to comfortably accommodate up to ten persons.

Water’s Edge Restaurant:
The Water’s Edge Restaurant can’t be missed, with its large white umbrellas and sweeping ocean views providing the ideal setting for Fiji holiday dining. A magnificent starlit setting at the water’s edge is enhanced by the music and songs of the “Castaway Islanders” with their acoustic guitars and island style bass. Covered dining in our “Bure ni Vutu”, (bure beside the Vutu tree) is adjacent to our water’s edge terrace. The restaurant is our main resort dining venue and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nuku Marau: The ‘Nuku Marau’ grill, by the poolside, is offering a variety of Asian and Polynesian inspired delights throughout the day including fresh hand rolled sushi, California rolls, Hibachi skewers, Hawaiian ‘tuna poke’, delicious Castaway burgers, traditional fish and chips and assorted wraps.
Sundowner Sunsets: Our Italian style gourmet wood fired pizzas featuring a thin, crisp base and choice of delicious toppings are offered at our Sundowner Bar. Open for lunch and then dinner until 9.00pm at night. You can enjoy amazing pizzas, all-day drinks and gourmet wood fired pizzas and salad at night. We also have a designated happy hour from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. We encourage a child free environment in the evenings and for families with children there is the FREE KID’S CLUB and a babysitting service available. The Sundowner also provides boxed take away pizzas, perfect for a romantic sunset picnic on the beach or a casual family picnic.
Restaurant 1808: The award-winning Restaurant 1808 (previously known as The Lali Sandbar & Grill) was in itself built to answer the growing feedback from guests to have a truly unique outdoor Fijian dining experience with loads of variety that is healthy and delicious using local organic ingredients. Sourced from the many organic farms throughout Fiji, including Castaway Island’s herb farm, the tropical fruits, peels, nuts, herbs and vegetables in this menu are classed as superfoods because of their high, nutrient-dense and medicinal compounds. Castaway offers water sports for everyone; snorkel the island’s fringing coral reefs, windsurf, parasail or paddle board, sail a catamaran, water ski or jet ski on the crystal clear lagoon. Island hop by speed boat with a champagne picnic, take a dolphin safari, play tennis on a champion sized court or simply relax in a hammock under swaying palms. For those wanting world-class diving, our 5-star Gold Palm dive facility operates at over 30 PADI dive sites.
